D.P.K.L. Pitching M-1 Division Rules

•  There is a 5 run limit or 3 out rule per inning. When either of these limits is reached the inning is over. There is NO 10-run rule.

•  The catcher does not have to use a catcher's mitt.

•  No In-Field Fly Rule.

•  NO SHIFTS on the infield will be allowed (i.e. 2 nd baseman playing on the shortstop side of 2 nd . Base, etc.). Infielders are to play in their positions as intended. Outfielders must have one foot in the grass.

•  Bases: 60 Feet & Pitching Machine: 36 Feet

•  NO LEAD-OFFS. NO STEALING . The runner can not leave until the ball is hit. If a runner leaves early he will be called OUT by the umpire.

•  The dead zone is the 15-foot arc in front of home plate is the same as foul territory. A batted ball that does not leave the dead zone is a foul ball. A fly ball caught in the dead zone is an out.

•  NO bunting or swinging easy at the ball

•  When a batted ball is fielded by an infielder and an overthrow is made, all base runners may advance one base on the overthrow at the risk of being OUT. Once one overthrow has been made and the base runners have advanced ONE base, the base runners can NOT advance any further no matter how many overthrows may occur.

•  Every player must be given the opportunity to play an infield position during the season.

•  The time limit for games is 1 hour 45 minutes. NO new inning shall start after 1 hour 45 minutes. If time permits, play the full amount of innings (top & bottom) regardless of the score.

•  Pitching machine league games will be 7 innings.

•  Strikes are called. There are strikeouts. 3 STRIKES AND YOU ARE OUT! No WARNING ON 3 RD STRIKE. Balls are not called. There are NO WALKS. 5 PITCHES ONLY unless the ball is fouled off on the 3 rd strike.

•  If a runner has passed the base when an outfielder attempts to make a throw (when the ball leaves his throwing hand), the runner may advance to the next base only & no further, at the risk of being out. If a runner has not passed the base when an outfielder attempts to make a throw (when the ball leaves his throwing hand), the runner may advance to that base & no further. The umpire watches the lead runner & the base coaches watch the other runners. PLEASE BE FAIR. If coaches agree prior to game time regular baseball rules may apply.

•  Catcher & all fielders must wear a protective cup.

•  The dropped 3 rd strike rule is not played. On a dropped 3 rd strike, the ball is dead & no runners may advance.

•  No runner may advance on a throw to the umpire or coach feeding the ball machine.

•  Pitching Machine speed is 36-38mph.

•  A batted ball that stops in the chalk circle around the pitching machine is a dead ball and does not count as a strike. Any batted ball that strikes the pitching machine is a dead ball and does not count as a strike. No player can field a ball in the chalk circle around the pitching machine.

•  Mandatory courtesy runner for the catcher with 2 outs. The player that made the last out is used as the courtesy runner. This applies to the player who will play catcher in your next defensive inning. This is so the catcher can have his/her equipment on & be ready to take the field.

•  ALL BATTERS are required to wear a face mask permanently attached to their batting helmet.
